First feelings from Wordpress

I got this domain on Tuesday and I have used Wordpress since then. This week went pretty much in learning different Wordpress features. But I can now tell that Wordpress is superior compared to Blogger software. I have so much better ability to modify my blog looks and possibility to use different kind of plugins is awesome. In my mind whole Wordpress admin dashboard is a way ahead blogger dashboard.

It is easy to create blog with Blogger, but when you want to add something to your template, you have to always download whole template for modifications. With Wordpress I can make modifications only to that part of blog where I want to my modifications to show.

I found out very soon that there is thousands of plugins available for Wordpress. I can add very handy and cool features easily to my blog with those plugins. Blogger do not have that kind of plugin feature at all, of course there is widgets but it is not the same thing.

Luckily I had my winter holiday week now, so I got plenty of time to play with Wordpress.

With my little experience from Wordpress I can definitely recommend it to you. This is very amazing blogging software.

WordPress is a state-of-the-art semantic personal publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, and usability. What a mouthful. WordPress is both free and priceless at the same time.

TJ, Thanks a lot for your report on Wordpress. At the moment I use Blogger. I will definitely use Wordpress in future! (Do you get a commission for this ’sale’?)

You wrote about winter vacation. I don’t want to make you jealous, but I write to you from Bangalore, India, where the temperature is now 30+C (I use Fahrenheit; it is about 85F). There’s no snow in Bangalore ;-)

Hi,
I do not get any commission of this post. Those are just my first feeling from Wordpress.

Weather is quite nice in here too, todays highest temperature was +16 Celsius. We do not have snow either, it has been very unusual winter in Finland.

I wouldn’t worry about your domain name. If your content is strong people will FAV your website and never need to type it in anyhow.

I’m a new blogger. I find your week-by-week update on revenue to be interesting. I’m also grateful for your feedback on Wordpress. I’m using Blogger right now. How long did you use blogger before making the switch to Wordpress? Did you lose all of the blogger posts when you switched?

peace, Villager

hi villager,
I used blogger only for three weeks. And I did not like tha way you have to modify your whole template for every minor update/change in your site layout. I did not lose my posts, I wrote article about importing blogger posts to wordpress, you can find it from here: http://tjantunen.com/2007/03/21/import-blogger-posts-to-wordpress/
