Published by under General

Ok, it is time to summarize this week earnings. First I would like to say that it has been very interesting week with my new domain. I have had a lots of work with modifying looks of this blog, but it has been very enjoyable time. I have also learned a lot of new things, mainly WordPress related.

Now I am going to take away a few of my earning programs from my list because those are not worth of effort (At least I think so). Note also that I am using actual week numbers in my report, not the time when my blog was started.

First feelings from WordPress

Published by under General

I got this domain on Tuesday and I have used WordPress since then. This week went pretty much in learning different WordPress features. But I can now tell that WordPress is superior compared to Blogger software. I have so much better ability to modify my blog looks and possibility to use different kind of plugins is awesome. In my mind whole WordPress admin dashboard is a way ahead blogger dashboard.

It is easy to create blog with Blogger, but when you want to add something to your template, you have to always download whole template for modifications. With WordPress I can make modifications only to that part of blog where I want to my modifications to show. Continue Reading »

TJantunen.com title problem

Published by under General

I have heard that my blog title (TJantunen.com) is very hard to non-Finns remember. So now I need help from all of you. Is that blog title good or should I change it to something which is easier to remember? Leave a comment or just take contact with my “Contact me” form.

I hope to get many comments/emails about this subject.

New Mitsubishi Outlander test drive

Published by under Cars

New Outlander 2007At last weekend I visited in my local Mitsubishi dealer. They had a new Mitsubishi Outlander 2007 SUV just arrived. In my mind new Outlander looks a lot better compared to old Outlander.
There is a good amount room inside and even I can sit quite comfortable. My height is 191 cm, so believe me, it is not always easy to find good driving position. And there is also enough room for me to sit at the backseats. Nice feature with backseats are that you can adjust amount of legroom. Those backseats are moving a little bit in forward-back position. At the trunk there are a decent amount of space depending on a position of backseats.

I took the car to quick test drive. This car had only 2.0 liter diesel engine with manual gearbox, so you can imagine that it do not offer too much power. In my mind it is a way too underpowered engine for that car. I did not like its behavior. Especially when I am used to a little bit more powerful engines. And a second annoying thing was a gearbox, it is really frustrating to drive a car with manual gearbox when you are used to drive car with automatic gearbox. I have got car with automatic gearbox now about seven years and I can not see any reason to change back to manual gearbox.

It is shame that there is no other engine and transmission combinations coming into Finland, at least not in this year. With a little more powerful engine and automatic gearbox, I would definitely consider a new Mitsubishi Outlander to my next car.

Mitsubishi Outlander 2007 specs:

Engine Capacity: 1968 cc
Cylinders: 4
Valves: 16v
Power: 138@4000 bhp/rpm
Torque: 228@1750 lb/ft
Maximum Speed: 116 mph – (Man)
0 – 62 mph: 10.8 seconds – (Man)
Fuel Type: Diesel
Fuel Capacity: 60 litres / 13.2 gallons
Combined Fuel Consumption: 42.8 mpg – Manual
Range to Empty: 564.9 miles

I am now waiting my invitation code to start selling ad space. So I will inform more as soon as I get my code.

Import Blogger posts to WordPress

Published by under General

My desk and coffee mugWhen I moved my entire blog into this domain and changed software from Blogger Beta to WordPress, I faced a big problem, how I am going to move my posts from Blogger to WordPress? I was looking for some WordPress plugins to do that work. It was not a really tempting idea to move all my posts just using copy+paste method. Well, I did not find any good plugins to do that job (from Blogger Beta) . But I was not looking very hard after all.

But I discovered a very easy and fast solution to move all my posts+comments and categories from Blogger Beta to WordPress. First you have to create account to WordPress.com, creating account takes about 1 minute. After your account is ready you can play with your new WordPress blog. We only want to import our Blogger beta posts so go to “Manage” tab and choose “Import”. Choose “Blogger” and after that “Authorize” and grant access to your Blogger beta blog. After that you just need to press “Import” and all your posts and comments are imported to your new WordPress blog. After that, you have to do “Export” from your current WordPress.com blog to get posts and comments to your real WordPress blog. Export all posts to xml file and go to your real WordPress blog (in my case http://tjantunen.com) . Choose “Manage” tab and “Import” then choose WordPress, after that you just need to find previously generated xml file from your computers hard drive and that’s it! All your posts, comments and categories are now imported. And you did not need any plugins to do this.

I hope that this will help someone who is in same situation that I was when moving from Blogger Beta to WordPress.
