Ping blog services

Published by under Traffic

When you ping the ping services ,your site will be listed in the ping services site. Pinging lets dozens of services which specifically track and connect blogs to know you’ve updated so they can come check you out. Remember pinging is important if you use feedburner feed since feedburner will come crawling around after you ping it and update your feed with the latest content. And based on its content other blog tracking services will update.

Most blogging software already have build-in ability to ping those kind of services. Usually, you only need to enter the address of the service, and everytime you publish a new post on your blog, it will automatically ping the services on the list.

These are my current services I use:

  • http://ping.feedburner.com

Check out also list WordPress Compressed All-Inclusive Ping List. They compared all the ping lists available for WordPress and decided to make a clean list from all the sources, to arrive at a list of servers to ping.

ANHosting halloween special

Published by under General

I just received this email from ANHosting:

It’s that time of year again. Last year’s Halloween was an AMAZING success
for everyone who pushed the Midphase and ANHosting’s special Halloween
package
, so much that, we had to do it again this year!

For Halloween day only, we are slashing Midphase and ANHosting.com’s prices
down to $5.95/mo and moving them to UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH and DISK SPACE!

That’s right – so now’s the time to make that blog post, tell your friends
or send out that email, because for Halloween only, you can get UNLIMITED
resources at $5.95/mo!!

The exact times are October 31st from 12:01am to 11:59pm Central – the
prices are slashed. And after the Halloween special, we’re back to our
normal (but still excellent!) pricing of $7.95/mo. Midphase affiliates are
making a killing this season, recession? What recession…Not judging by
the payments we’re making to affiliates twice a month!

So if you have planned to move your blogger blog to your own host, do it now.

Obama and John McCain’s tongue picture

Published by under Traffic

This picture of Barack Obama and John McCain is already a legend.

US Republican presidential nominee Senator John McCain (R-AZ) reacts to
almost heading the wrong way off the stage after shaking hands with
Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) at the
conclusion of the final presidential debate at Hofstra University in
Hempstead, New York, October 15, 2008.

I wrote this post purely to attract traffic to my blog. I want to see how many hits this post gets because Barack Obama and John McCain is mentioned. As you all know the whole world is watching those two guys. So I thought that maybe this would be a nice way to get a little extra traffic to my blog. Well, after all it is still quite a funny picture.

This image is real, but if you want to see a bunch of photoshopped images of that moment, check out 1dak.com, there is plenty of photoshopped imaged of that situation.

Blog Promotion for Newbies

Published by under General,Traffic

Here are a few blog promotion tips:

  1. Don’t use blogrolling: it may be easier to use but the javascript stuffs up search engines when they are looking for links and makes the links useless, use WordPress’s managed links feature or similar product, or even hard code it.
  2. Pinging to weblogs et al is good but trackbacking to sites is better, when of course your post is in relation to that sites topic. Also legitimate commenting directly on other sites helps expose your site to others. But remember, it must be legitimate comment and not spam!
  3. Offer to exchange links on your site under your links section, it lets people know that your interested in linking and will build up your site quickly in Technorati and Google.
  4. Link to other small sites without exchange, either through side bar or post: linking to big sites is great in showing what your reading but does nothing to build up your readership because they nearly always never return the favour, indeed a number of them will steal your stories or ideas without any attribution at all. Smaller sites on the other hand are often stoked that you’ve linked to them and will return the favour without asking, even if they don’t, you’ve still done a good deed.
  5. submit your blog to ALL the search engines, it might take some time but the spiders will start coming to your blog.
  6. The most important feature of all: post regularly and post often. It not only brings readers back regularly but it means the spiders from the search engines will return more frequently indexing your entire site, and you’ll start getting hits from the search engines. Some may argue that these aren’t that valuable but I would argue that’s rubbish. It exposes your site to a new audience for free, and even if only a few return you’ve still built up your readership for free.

These all are very simple tips but effective. Remember phrase: “keep is simple”

Published by under General

If you want to start selling 125×125 ads on your site, MyAdManager is one of the best free solutions available for that use. You can download it from Vision Master Desings site. Plugin itself is very easy to configure and use. It has nice build in buy ad form setting, so you do only need to add little code line to your WordPress post or page.  Features:

  • Ability to design how you want your ads to be displayed. i.e How many ads horizontally and how many vertically. This also determines your maximum AD-Slots.
  • 2 Types of ADs – Outside, Home
    • Home Ads – These type of ads don`t expire. They are displayed when there are not enough OUTSIDE ads to be displayed in the AD-Slots. These ads can only be created via the Admin Panel.
    • Outisde Ads – Everytime someone buys adspace on your website, an OUTSIDE Ad is created by default. These types of ads have valid expiry dates, After the expiry date, it`ll get deactivated automatically. Outside Ads can also be created via the Admin Panel.
  • ADs can be bought directly from your website. No need for any middle men or any middle websites. Payment is payed and processed via Paypal. As soon as the payment is confirmed via Paypal IPN, the AD is automatically added to the Ad-Inventory, and immediately will be LIVE.
If you don`t want to use this feature, you can simply disable it via the Admin Panel.
  • Admin Interface to de-activate, activate and delete ADs
  • Logs of every successful transaction. Everytime an Ad-Slot is sold, a record is made.

  • Reduce AD-Blindness by randomly rotating ads in different locations.
  • Buy AD Form and Order Review page are template based, i.e you can modify the way they look.
  • An Order Review Page is displayed, when a customer buys an AD off your site.

Buy and sell links with LinkXL

Published by under Make money online,Programs

LinkXL is the first technology of its kind to allow all parties to buy and sell text link advertising within existing website content using a fully automated system, establishing a more mainstream, targeted, and cost-effective method of text link advertising. With the introduction of LinkXL, advertisers can buy links to organically grow the link popularity of their website while publishers can make their keywords available to a much wider cross-section than ever before. For more information, visit LinkXL.

LinkXL is one of the newest solutions for webmasters and bloggers to monetize the content on their blog or website by selling automatically placed inline text links. LinkXL takes a novel approach to buying and selling text links in that the advertising links are targeted to relevant keywords on a particular site and not just a floating link on a blog’s sidebar or a website’s footer such as with TLA or TNX.

LinkXL’s techniques are more like Kontera ContentLink, Adbrite inline ads or Chitika inline ads in that LinkXL delivers text link advertisting within existing content on your site or blog. All of this is accomplished using a fully automated system that distributes links based completely on a publishers preferences and settings.

If you’re a webmaster who is concerned with Google’s crackdown on buying and selling text advertising links, LinkXL has a soluton for you that won’t anger the Google gods because publishers have the option of choosing to have links tagged as nofollow. The nofollow option is what makes LinkXL a truly contextual advertising system as opposed to another link selling for pagerank scenario.

The Basics for Publishers

LinkXL seems to have a very innovative system for the automated placement of links. The publisher is allowed complete control of pricing of links based on Google pagerank and publishers can choose whether links are followed or nofollowed.

After you’ve added your site, you’re prompted to add filters for your website to tell the LinkXL engine which pages in your site you will be indexing in the system for link placement. The filters allow wildcards, so for example, you could only sell links on your forum or blog by using a filter such as /blog/* or /forum/* and links will only be placed in those directories.
