Vista Sucks
We all know what the words “Vista” and “Sucks” mean. One is used to describe an operating system, the other is a derogatory term used to describe something that is completely useless, inept, inoperable, or crass.
Business users agree that Vista sucks. Apparently, despite the release of the alleged operating system upgrade, most businesses that were using Windows have stuck with XP. Just 12% have gone from an earlier version of Windows to Vista. I should know, I’m one of them. I suspect businesses will either make the leap straight to Windows 7 when their software or hardware forces them to, or better still will jump ship to open source Linux as an operating system.
The idea that Vista sucks is nothing new, of course. Way back in December 2006, Asp.net Resources said as much.
Because Vista sucks so much there are calls for Microsoft to give users of the operating system a free upgrade to version 7, which would be nice as my kids’ PC is running Vista and I’d much prefer them to grow up with a decent OS.
Anyway, none of this explains why so many people (according to Jim Connolly) are searching for the phrase “Vista sucks”. Indeed, Google Adwords ranks the phrase with a global monthly search volume of 18,100 compared to a mere 1,300 for “XP sucks”, 5,400 for “Linux sucks”, and a surprising 6,600 for “apple sucks”.
So, what do you think? Are you an XP user readying yourself to leapfrog over Vista straight to Windows 7? Or, have you already done the sensible thing and gone to Linux. Please don’t tell me you’ve trapped yourself in another proprietary device-software monopoly by buying a Mac…
