Facebook recently introduced its new photo viewer. When you click on a picture in an album or from the news feed, it prompts an in-page “lightbox” viewer with a black background. I don’t understand why many people like this new change, but I hate for sure.

Here is the workaround for the new Facebook feature.

1. Hit F5 – Refreshing the page will make the lightbox to go away.
2. Facebook Lightbox Killer (Mozilla Firefox) – This is an addon for Mozilla Firefox.
3. Facebook Lightbox Killer (Google Chrome) – Same like Facebook Lightbox Killer for Mozilla Firefox.

Both extensions for Google Chrome and Firefox will kill the lightbox when viewing pictures on Facebook.
