Affiliate Marketing Meetups in September 2011

Published by under Make money online

The monthly Affiliate Summit meetups are expanding to a sizable list of cities from month to month around the U.S. and Canada.

These meetups are free, and they provide a chance to network with affiliate marketers in your local area, as well as to learn from a speaker.

Austin Affiliate Summit Meetup April 2011

The format varies a little from place to place, but it’s typically a two hour get together with a mixture of open networking and a speaker for 15-30 minutes.

For instance, at the next one in Austin, TX, which I organize locally, I will be speaking on how to create an “Ask the Expert” affiliate site.

There are meetups scheduled this month in Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Cleveland, Chicago, Denver, East Bay (CA), Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Montreal, Niagara Falls, New York City, Orlando, San Francisco, and Wilmington (NC).

Check http://www.affiliatesummit.com/meetups for upcoming meetups.

If you are interested in getting a group together in your area, please contact Mary Poiley by email or by phone at 813-438-6279. She will set up your group, spread the word and help you along the way.

Download Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 [Review]

Published by under Technology

If one were to visit a couple of websites on the internet, without adequate protection, it is as if he were entering a firing zone all unarmed. However, one need not worry much if he had Webroot Internet Security Essentials to help him. This company is a leader in protection against internet rogues and viruses that may attack a user’s computer in and unguarded moment. Not only does Webroot provide internet protection, but it scans incoming email, outgoing email, cleans one’s PC and performs periodic checks to keep the whole region clean and safe.

While it lacks in Parental Controls, it won over its competitors like BitDefender and Kaspersky in superlative antispyware protection. However, one need not be worried as Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 offers Parental control as a separate feature instead of integrating it with the main product like most other web protection software.

It is a fact that most internet users were unaware of threats from viruses until their computers were affected with them. Not only were the systems affected, but data from their computers and information about user habits were stolen as well and this poses a real danger to life as one can face identity theft, if the practice remains unchecked. Webroot Internet Security Essentials (WISE) 2011 happens to have a finger on the pulse of this menace and has it under control when installed in one’s system.

Webroot Internet Security Essentials comparison

Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 is known for its simplicity and user friendliness as it has a well designed user interface that is very clear in its instructions, icons and functionality. One point in this software’s favour is that it uses very limited system resources and therefore it does not slow down the performance of one’s system even when used in conjunction with other applications.

Antispyware

Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 has Spy Sweeper as an integral part of its makeup and this is currently rated no. 1 among many different anti–spyware products. It quickly identifies quarantines and deletes malware, parasites, data miners, adware and many other kinds of viruses that can threaten security of data and identity from one’s system. One feature present in Spy Sweeper, that takes care of cookie trackers, browser hijackers, key loggers and Trojan horses, are its 15 smart shields which protect one’s system against the likes.

Antivirus

Most third parties that test the effectiveness of various spyware have checked Webroot Internet Security Essentials’ antivirus protection against viruses, root kits, Trojan horses, key loggers and worms and have certified it with flying colours. This is due to its ability to shield up to three computers at a time from dangers on the internet. Of late, the necessity for such antivirus protection has increased manifold as every system logs on to the internet with moments of being set up.

Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 antivirus

Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 was awarded a very important title of VB100%. This certificate from Virus Bulletin allows Webroot Internet Security Essentials to have its logo on its cover. It also proclaims to everybody that this software can detect any wild virus present on the internet through on – demand and on – access scanning. This software has also been presented with an ICSA certificate that certifies that this software can detect and prevent replication of any virus along with not providing false positives. Even though West Coast Labs (WCL) did not certify Webroot’s total package, its two individual components of Spy Sweeper and Webroot’s Antivirus software, both received individual certifications from WCL.

Firewall

There is an interesting feature in this internet security package and that is the ability to learn or trace patterns from the user. Information from the home computer to another or another network is monitored and the patterns are recorded for a week. After a pattern has been learnt, it monitors any variations from its set path and faithfully reports it to the controller.

This is a easy feature that comes to one’s aid in preventing unnecessary pop ups with demands for access, each time the user was to visit a particular website. It even segregated all the visited websites into two categories of trusted and distrusted websites and keeps a tight watch on the distrusted category of websites. Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 even catalogues favourite vendors of a user and prevent frequent pop ups and messages regarding trusted or open networks. All these factors help this software in setting up a very secure firewall for one’s computer, and though this procedure takes up time, it is useful in the end as it is very effective.

Miscellaneous Security features

Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 has 2 GB of remote backup and this proves an invaluable tool to a person in case of protection against hard disk crashes. Earlier versions of this product allowed for local backup, but that feature has been replaced with online file storage facilities which make file sharing, storing and even file sync a breeze. This cloud storage implies that even if physical harm like a fire or breakage were to occur to one’s computer, he could retrieve all his data without any loss quickly as it has been saved on a remote server. There is no limit as to what can be saved on the cloud and one can include music, video, image and data files as well.

Not alone is this remote backup a safety against disaster but it enables mobility as well. One need not carry around any kind of storage device, as he can download all his data directly from the cloud. Another service that this package offers is its file sharing space on the internet for a limited time alone, which is hosted by a very popular web based sharing website, SugarSync.

Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 offers periodical erasure of internet browsing history and it cleans up cookies, unnecessary files and any tracers that are on the computer as well. This feature is available both as temporary and permanent setup as well.

Another sharp feature of Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 is its Webroot Automated Research Network (WARN), which allows scans and analyses its results in order to collect information about various kinds of threats that can affect one’s system. This is to stay ahead of various threats on the internet through proactive means.
Malicious and risky websites posing to be for a purpose but are malware in disguise are also identified and taken care of. Examples of such links are news about celebrities, news or public events but these can harm a computer when given access. Webroot’s Secure Browsing Tool takes care of such threats and ranks them according to their degree of risk with colour coded warnings.

Aspects of User friendliness

As this is a very able internet security suite, the package has been designed to remain very user friendly and install without a hitch in the procedure. Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 received a thorough make over in comparison with its earlier designs and now incorporates icons that are easy to understand and instructions that reading simple sentences. The program comes in an aesthetically appealing colour and can be set up from its online website that is both easy and quick even for a complete beginner and yet has advanced controls to be used by an experienced user as well.

Most of all, this software occupies very little computer resources and runs very unobtrusively in the background without any requirement for constant supervision. This is its ace feature when compared to many other internet security software and it has a very simple method of configuration that has been streamlined to provide maximum functionality.

A point to be noted is that Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 must be installed in a computer with more than its minimum requirement of 300 MHz processor and 256 MB of RAM. This is simply to get maximum performance from this software and if there is no additional space, there is a marked decrease in performance speed. For example, this package performs well if one had 1GB of RAM without an OS that occupies more space.

Setting up the program is a quick procedure, once it has been installed into the computer. The very first step that it takes is to run a thorough check of the entire computer to scan for threats and issues of risk. Then it gives an opening to WARN or Webroot Automated Research Network, to employ futuristic protection based on scans and their results’ analysis. It then sets up schedules for periodical scans after which it moves files for both local and remote cloud backup. All these procedures happen very quickly and one is not bothered by requests for execution anywhere in between.

Help & Support

Webroot Internet Security Essentials’ support system is available through free services in the US, it has online resources, and support centres for other customers as well. For further support one can contact their customer service through email, phone or chat in order to be provided with the necessary tutorials, manuals and FAQ to resolve their issues. Apart from these free services, there are commercially paid services that offer remote assistance and installation help to a user too.

Summary

Webroot Internet Security Essentials 2011 helps in the smooth running of one’s computer while keeping all his data secure. It has a free cloud backup service to ensure this and it is recommended that one try out this software.

How Much More Money Can I Make With An Online MBA Degree?

Published by under Make money online

The cost of tuition can be so high at times that by the time you leave a particular educational institution, you’re in debt for tens of thousands of dollars. Even though getting an Online MBA or PhD can be far more cost-effective, it still costs. This comes at a time when people don’t have much to spread around. It may be cheaper, but you always want to know what it’s going to translate into in the long-run. This cost-prohibitive reality is often a deciding factor for people that would like to go back to school, but simply can’t afford it. Bettering one’s self is always a component in the decision, but especially in this job market, many people ask, “how much more am I going to make by going back to school?”

Of course, the answer is always more complicated than a simple figure, but in recent years, the employers have shown that they’re far more likely to hire someone with a masters or doctorate over their associate degree holding counterparts. For the most part, an MBA holder can generally expect to see a salary increase, but there are other factors that come into play when figuring out the final earnings and what you can expect. The devil is always in the details, and once you figure this out, you’ll have a much better idea of how much money you can expect to make with a higher-education degree.

Depending on what field or area that you’re wanting to get into, sometimes the prestige of a school’s name can play a factor. Even if it’s an online school, generally it’s a starting point and you want to make sure that any school you attend is accredited and has a good reputation. This is going to get your foot in the door and get people to take notice. Past that, where you go to school also depends on the quality of connections and networks you build. Better schools will translate into better pay. If you’re interested in an online school, do a lot of research to see how well the school has done and any feedback it’s gotten. You don’t want to waste precious time and money on a junk degree that translates to zero earnings.

The field you ultimately decide on, according to a GMAC Survey, plays a huge part in your earnings. It’s not that surprising, but important to take note of. According to the same survey, those graduates that decide to go into investment banking or find employment with consulting firms will usually earn a lot more than other people that hold an MBA. It usually translates into several thousands of dollars more per year. The same goes for the IT sector. This is a growing field since companies are relying more heavily on their technological capabilities. As always, government work seems to be an excellent place to go. People with good degrees that end up working for the government usually do quite well for themselves.

Have a specialized approach to your degree is always the best approach, perhaps the most important one. Automatically, when you get a higher degree you’re opening doors for a brighter future filled with more opportunities. This is even more so when you have a greater idea of what area of the market you want to get into. Very often people graduate school with even less of an idea of what they want to do as when the started their program. Deciding on a specialized education will cut down on the time it takes you to get the training and experience you need. Just think all of these things through before you make any decision so you’re not wasting your time and money.

Archos G9 tablets coming your way this week

Published by under Technology

If you are still mulling over just which tablet you should purchase (other than the iPad, of course) for your loved one this coming Christmas, perhaps you might want to consider the plethora of Android-powered options. For example, tablets running on the Android operating system are dime a dozen, so just which model should you pick up? I would say hold your horses until September 20th rolls around – Archos will be introducing their new G9 Android tablet which intends to merge both speed and affordability in a single device.

Sporting an 8″ form factor, Archos will be the first manufacturer in the market that rolls out a dual-core, Android 3.2 Honeycomb tablet that will not go beyond the $300 price point – making all of you out there smile, I suppose.

Couple that with an OMAP 4 processor with an ARM Cortex dual-core A9 at 1GHz, there is yet another model for you to consider if your need is speed. Going for $399, there is the Archos G9 “Turbo” edition that will run on an OMAP 4 1.5GHz dual-core processor, delivering up to 50% more raw computational power over other 1GHz competitors. Bear in mind that clock speed is not the be all and end all of things, but it does help somewhat where serious number crunching is required.

All Archos G9 tablets will also be able to access the Android Market (hello, Angry Birds!), leaving you with a choice of more than 250,000 apps to install on your tablet, regardless of whether they are games, news, tools or widgets. Since Android’s the name of the game here, expect a suite of Google mobile applications to keep the G9 company such as Google Talk with video chat, Gmail, Youtube, Google Maps with Street View and Navigation (beta) and Google Calendar.

You will also be able to choose from whether you want flash storage within, or a 250GB hard drive to stash away your data, thanks to the Seagate Momentus Thin hard drive that has a dedicated 4GB flash caching system.

Any takers for the Archos G9?
